Kennedy Resets School Record in Javelin

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Amanda Kennedy of the Marshall University women's track & field team had a throw of 139-01 feet in the javelin which was good for sixth place and a new school record at the Jesse Owens Invitational hosted by the Ohio State University Friday night.

The freshman from Bentleyville, Pa., topped her own school record which was thrown at the Ohio Invitational in April. In the process, Kennedy's throw also qualified her for junior Nationals.

In that same event, Kristin Smith and Lauren DeHays placed 19th and 22nd, respectively.

Day two of competition for at the Jesse Owens Invitational continues Saturday morning and goes through the duration of the day.
