LEXINGTON, Ky.- Marshall's Lindsey Kerns (Hurricane, W.Va.) registered eight saves on the day but it wasn't enough as the Thundering Herd fell to Kentucky 1-0 in Sunday afternoon's non-conference women's soccer match at the UK Soccer Complex.

MU slips to 2-3-2 on the season, while the Wildcats snap a two-game losing streak and improve to 4-2.

The teams looked to be evenly matched through the opening 45 minutes. The defensive battle was broken up by Kentucky, as the Wildcats registered 10 shots, placing nine on goal in the second half.

Alyssa Telang tallied the only goal of the night in the 53rd minute. Telang netted her goal off a cross from Taylor Parker.

Megan Tabler (Ashland, Ky.) had a team-high three shots on the afternoon.

"Today was by far our toughest battle of the season," head coach Kevin Long said. "We had good pace, great urgency and were right in the game. Now we have to look to get ready for conference."

Marshall returns to action on September 24th when it travels to Southern Miss for its conference season opener.
