HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Four players recorded 10-or-more digs for the Marshall University volleyball team but Cleveland State received a 25-kill performance from Thunder Invitational Tournament MVP Kara Koch as the Vikings edged the Thundering Herd, 3-2 (21-25, 26-24, 25-21, 21-25 and 12-15) on Saturday evening.

Marshall's (2-4) Cameron Yoho posted another solid performance as a middle blocker, hitting at a .360 clip with 10 kills on 34 attempts with just one miscue on the way to being named to the Thunder Invitational All-Tournament Team.

Joining Yoho on the all-tournament squad from the Herd was setter Elizabeth Fleming. The South Bend, Ind., native tallied 50 assists along with a half dozen kills and digs in the loss.

Cleveland State (6-0) nabbed the first frame, before the Herd marched right back to take sets two and three from the Vikings.

In the second stanza, the two teams were deadlocked at 24-24, before Ryanne Milligan nailed an ace followed by Elizabeth Herman and Sacha Byous-McConnell teaming up for a block to win 26-24.

MU closed out the third frame thanks to Abby Tomas connecting consecutive kills, with a set score of 25-21.

The Vikings refused to quit and captured the fourth set, 25-21, before outlasting the Herd in the deciding frame 15-13.

Laura Der posted her second double-double of the day with 10 kills and 16 digs, while Herman and Tomas chipped in with 14 and 13 kills apiece, respectively.

The Herd is off until Tues., September 7th when the home squad hosts Morehead State and North Carolina A&T as part of Marshall Play Day tri-match.
