Cox Places Third in Mile at the Gladstein Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Allison Cox of the Marshall University women's track and field team set a personal best in the mile as she placed third at the Gladstein Invitational, hosted by Indiana University.



The senior from Scott Depew, W.Va., crossed the line in a time of 5:12.21 and was just one second shy of first place. Jenna Romano of St. Louis University won the event. Cox has the school record in her sights and needs to shave just five seconds off her time for fastest in Marshall history.



Also placing in the top 10 was Heather Saffel and Kathleen Clark in the 800 meter run. Saffe finished eighth overall with a time of 2:20.13, while Clark was one second behind her at 2:21.15, good for tenth overall. This is the second straight week Saffel has finished in the top 10 in the 800.



Delkira Maybin had a strong showing inside the Gladstein Field House, placing ninth in the 200 meter dash in a time of 26.09. She also finished 12th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.95.



Leslie Thomas set a personal best as she ran a 10:40.60 in the 3,000 meter run.



The Herd is off next weekend before resuming competition on February 4th at the Meyo Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame.
