HEBRON, Ky. - Marshall men's golf team travelled to Hebron, Kentucky to take part in the 2011 Bearcat Invitational hosted by the University of Cincinnati at Traditions Golf Club. After 54 holes the Thundering Herd resides in tenth place with 594 strokes. MU will finish the two-day tournament Tuesday with the remaining 18 holes.
Brian Anania leads Marshall after day one on the 6,855-yard, par-71 course with a two-round total of 146 (+4) shots. Following Anania is Bosten Miller and Nathan Kerns, who each recorded a score of 149 (+7). Jeremy Rogers contributed to The Herd total as well, carding a 152 (+10). Tas Sipowski finished with a 153.
The two-day tournament had each team teeing off on a shotgun start Monday, which will be followed by a shotgun start Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. After day one Joseph Barr of Kentucky leads the field of competitors with a 135 (-7), helping the Wildcats hold a three stroke advantage over second place Dayton.
Other teams competing are Austin Peay State, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Ohio, Georgetown, Oakland, Youngstown State, Belmont, and Bowling Green.
