COLUMBIA, S.C.- The Thundering Herd men's soccer team will put its unbeaten Conference USA record on the line this Saturday when it travels to the University of South Carolina for a 7:00 p.m. showdown with the host Gamecocks.
Marshall is 3-0-1 in the conference so far this season and is riding an eight game unbeaten streak into the match. The Herd's last win came in a 2-1 victory over the visiting Shawnee State Bears on Wednesday, while it drew SMU 1-1 a week ago in its most recent C-USA action. The team is 7-4-1 overall.
The Gamecocks enter the match sitting in second place behind Marshall in the conference standings with a 3-1-0 record. South Carolina was undefeated in league play prior to a 2-3 overtime loss to SMU this past Wednesday, and is 5-5-1 overall.
The Gamecock's leading scorer on the year with five goals is Bradlee Baladez, while Stephen Morrissey is second on the squad with four. The pair will try and outperform a Marshall offense paced by Tom Jackson's team-leading tally of eight goals and Anthony Virgara's three strikes.
Marshall has found even more consistent success, though, from its defense, which has allowed the fewest goals in C-USA so far this season and boasts the league's lowest goals against average. Junior goalkeeper Daniel Withrow leads the league with 57 saves to date this year.
The match will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Stone Stadium, which is located in the heart of the South Carolina campus. For live stats during the game, please click . Live video will also be available on South Carolina's website.
