HUNTINGTON, W.VA. - With only four matches left in the season, Marshall Volleyball looks to take advantage of two home matches at the Cam Henderson Center this weekend as Memphis and UAB come to town. The Memphis match is set for tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. and the UAB contest will start at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Marshall will enter the weekend looking to rebound after suffering two losses on the road this past weekend to UCF and UTEP. The UCF match displayed a late comeback, where the Herd came back from being down two sets to send the contest to the deciding fifth set. UCF held on in the end, winning the final game 15-12.

Sacha Byous-McConnell will look to continue her success from this past weekend as the middle-blocker recorded 27 kills and a .511 hitting percentage during the two matches. Setter Sammie Bane will also be looking to eclipse the 1000 assist mark for the season. The freshman is only 15 shy with a 985 assist count.

Scouting Memphis

Memphis enters the weekend with an overall record of 17-13 and a 6-11 standing in Conference USA play. The Tigers broke a six-match losing streak early in November after winning two in a row against UCF and Tulane. Most recently, Southern Miss put a stop to their newly found success and beat the Tigers this past weekend, 3-1. Memphis is led by Altrese Hawkins and Hajnalka Molnar. Hawkins reached the highly esteemed 1000 kill mark this season and now sits at 1,297 kills for her career. Molnar sits fifth in the NCAA in assists per set with 11.88. She totals 1186 assists for the year.

Scouting UAB

UAB rides in as the No. 2 team in Conference USA with a 21-8, 11-6 record. Earlier in the season, the Blazers boasted a 13 match win streak, but since then have gone 4-6. This past weekend UAB split, taking a 3-0 win against Tulane and losing to Southern Miss, 3-0. The Blazers are led by junior middle-blocker Sam Serley. She leads the team in kills with 261 and is 29th in the nation in blocks per set with a 1.31 average. She combines for 140 blocks on the season, 31 of which are solos.
