Recently, the Brownstown, Ind. native eclipsed the 1,000 assist mark in her freshman season and finished the year with 1,174 assists. She also was recently selected to the All-C-USA Freshman team for her accomplishments in the 2011 season.

Bane leads the team in double-doubles this season with 14. She posted double-double figures in the last five matches of the season. Against East Carolina, she finished the contest with 37 assists and 23 digs and in the Golden Ball match against West Virginia, Bane marked 50 assists and 12 digs.

"I'm so happy for Sammie," commented head coach Mitch Jacobs. "She has absolutely demanded more out of herself than any other player on our team this season. For her to get this recognition the last weekend of the season truly vindicates all her efforts."

Bane and her teammates end the 2011 season with a 10-21 record overall and a 8-12 standing in Conference USA play.
