Track and Field Zips to Akron for Competition

AKRON, Ohio - After a great all-around performance at the Meyo Invitational last weekend at Notre Dame, the Marshall University women's track and field team looks to continue momentum at the Akron Invitational this weekend at the Stile Field House.



After a fourth place finish in the triple jump and a season best distance of 12.41 meters at Notre Dame, Jasia Richardson enters the Akron Invitational as the top seed in the Gold Division. Her jump at the Meyo Invitational ranks her 41st in the nation and tied for second in Conference USA.



Vanessa Jules also recorded a top-10 finish at the Meyo with a fifth place finish in the high jump. She enters this weekend seeded third in the Gold Division.



Delkira Maybin, the school record holder in the 60 meter dash is seeded 12th this weekend. She, along with freshmen Moriah Njoku and Cheri Bunner will compete in the Gold Division.



Allison Cox in the 3000 meter run, Rachel Coaxum, Alecia Daniels and Taylor Brown in the 60 meter hurdles, the 4x400 meter relay team, Elaine Derricott in the triple jump, and Lauren DeHays and Derricott in the heptathlon will also be competing in the Gold Division.



Other teams at the Akron Invitational include: Pittsburgh, Bowling Green, University at Buffalo, Appalachian State, Kent State, Youngstown State, Dayton, Wright State, Radford, Duquesne, IPFW and Ohio, among others.
