Day Three Wraps at C-USA Swimming and Diving Championships

HOUSTON, Texas.- After the third day of events at the Conference USA Championships the Marshall University swimming and diving team saw five career records set and four program record-setting times.
"Our young team has found a way to stay competitive in nearly every event and it is clear Marshall swimming and diving is a factor at this meet," said head coach Russell Hunt. "We will use this momentum going into the final day of championships."
The Thundering Herd led off with a 200 Freestyle Relay team of Lauren Tarka, Jenae Moreno, Tiffany Aeling and Lauren Fairbanks that finished in a time of 1:38.08, which ranks eighth in the Marshall records.
Heather Moore tallied a career best in the 400 IM with a time of 4:28.89 followed by Arlie Rykosky and Sarah Kay with personal bests in the 100 Fly in a time of 56.87 and 57.33, respectively.
In the 100 Backstroke Vera Niemeyer had an impressive finish with a time of 58.27, which ranks second all-time in the event at Marshall.
Tarka came back to set one more record on the day with a finish of 1:07.05 in the 100 Breaststroke, ringing in at fourth in the record books.
Top finish for MU in the 1 Meter Dive was Haley Holmquist whose 245.60 mark was good enough for fifth.
Marshall will begin the final day of the championships at 11 a.m. Saturday morning.
