Jules and Throwers Shine at FSU Relays on Friday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Marshall University track and field team had many top performances on Friday at the FSU Relays at the Mike Long Track on the campus of Florida State University.
The throwers had a great day with four top-10 finishes. In the hammer throw competition, Molly Grove finished fifth with a stellar distance of 47.67m, while Elizabeth Barnhart was ninth, tossing a 35.97m.
Following suit, the javelin placed two MU athletes in the top five, as Amanda Kennedy was fourth with a throw of 39.49, and Lauren DeHays was fifth at 37.04m.
On the track, Vanessa Jules set a personal best in the 400 meter dash with an outstanding time of 57.09. The 800 meter run was also a strong point for the Thundering Herd as Heather Saffel was seventh with a time of 2:17.98, while Kathleen Clark was right behind her in eighth, crossing the line in 2:18.00.
Elaine Derricott was eighth in the long jump with a distance of 5.32m.
