NO. 6 VIRGINIA SCOUTING REPORT
UVA (12-1) boasts a 12-1 record on the season, with a 9-1 tally at its home park, Davenport Field. As a team the Cavaliers have been almost perfect defensively, sporting a .994 fielding percentage, committing only three errors in 13 games.

Owners of a 1.62 ERA, the Cavaliers' arms have been extremely effective in the early goings of the 2011 season. In 117 innings the pitching staff has 134 strikeouts compared to just 23 walks, while opponents are hitting at a .194 clip against them.
LAST SEASON
At Davenport Field in 2010, Marshall dropped a midweek game to then No.1-ranked Virginia, 6-3. The Herd defense was out-of-sink, committing four errors, which in turn allowed five unearned runs to cross home plate proving to be the difference in the game.
LHP Kyle Blank made the start last season, working the first two frames, not figuring in the decision. Other returners from last season that pitched against the Cavaliers include James White and Ben Jurevicius. White tossed two-thirds of an inning, while Jurevicius worked two frames, with neither pitcher allowing a run to score.
At the dish, Rhett Stafford roped a RBI double, while Kenny Socorro contributed a RBI single in the seventh.
