Blacksburg, Va. - Marshall's Christian Brand recorded a double bogey on number nine, his last of the day, to finish with a second round score of 76 (+4) at the Virginia Tech NCAA Regional Friday.

Brand, a Charleston native, started the round off on number 10 and promptly scored a birdie. He would later birdie on 12 and 3, however bogeys on 15, 18, 1 and 2 left the Marshall senior at two over before his birdie on number three put him at one over with six holes to go on the day. Brand managed to make par on five straight holes before the costly double bogey to close out the round.

Brand is now tied for 28th in the overall individual standings at 150. However, he is tied for fifth among the individual qualifiers whom he must defeat in order to advance to Stillwater for the NCAA Championships Final. Heading into Saturday's third and final round, Davidson's Richard Fountain leads the individual competitors at 145. He is followed by Dartmouth's Peter Williamson at 147 and Penn State's T.j. Howe and Vanderbilt's Adam Hofmann who are both at 149. Brand is tied with Campbell's Matt Moot at 150.
