HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- Fresh off its 1-0 victory over Michigan State last Sunday, the Marshall University men's soccer team is getting ready to take on the incoming Oakland University Golden Grizzlies at Sam Hood Field this Friday night at 7:00 p.m.

Junior forward Tom Jackson scored the winning goal for the Thundering Herd last weekend and will be looking to do more of the same when the Grizzlies roll into town for what will be just Marshall's second home game of the 2011 season. Oakland - who enters the game with an 0-4-1 record - will present Marshall with a good opportunity to turn last Sunday's victory over the Spartans into a two game win-streak.

Marshall looks set to feature such exciting players as Jackson, senior captain Jordan Hilgefort, and the reigning Conference USA Defender of the Year, goalkeeper Daniel Withrow. Withrow excelled last game by posting 5 saves in the shutout win. For Oakland, Josh Bennett and Jeff Cheslik will provide the firepower, as each leads the Grizzlies with 2 goals apiece this year.

The game is also Big Green Kids Club Day, meaning food and vuvuzelas will be handed out to members, and a halftime promotion in which one lucky student will receive $150 in textbook cash will also take place. Students, Big Green Kids Club members, and other fans of all ages are encouraged to come out and support the Herd in its quest for win number two. Following the match, the Herd will return to Sam Hood field less than 48 hours later to take on Winthrop at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
