BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Marshall University track and field team will travel to Birmingham, Ala., this weekend for a showdown against some of its top rivals at the Conference USA Indoor Championships.
Hosted by UAB at the CrossPlex, the meet will welcome participants from all 12 of the C-USA's track and field teams. For the Thundering Herd, 21 ladies will have the opportunity to stake their claim as the best athlete in her respective event, beginning with Vanessa Jules in the 60m hurdles of the pentathlon at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Indeed, Jules is one Marshall athlete who has already made a name for herself on the conference scene, having finished third in the high jump at last year's championship meet. This time around, the All-Conference athlete will be participating in the pentathlon, with the high jump, shot put, and long jump events scheduled to take place following the conclusion of the 60m hurdles. Jules will also be participating in the individual heats of the 60m hurdles and high jump as well.
Marshall's other All-Conference participant, Jasia Richardson, will also be competing at the meet, jumping in the triple jump at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Herd's relay team will conclude the championship meet with the 4x400m relay at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
