ATHENS, Ohio - Marshall track and field defeated the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday, 106-82, in the Ohio Women's Team Challenge.

The Thundering Herd won 15 of the 23 events contested on Saturday, including a sweep of the top two places in five of the events.

The Marshall athletes had a breakout competition, setting personal bests in a multitude of events. In the 4X100 meter relay, the Herd missed the school record by 2/100th of a second even without its fastest sprinter, Delkira Maybin, who did not compete on Saturday due to injury.

Two school records were set during the competition. Amanda Kennedy broke her school record for the third time in as many meets this year with a throw of 149'-8'' in the javelin. Vanessa Jules broke her own record in the high jump as well. The personal best puts Jules ranked 15th in the country for the high jump.

The 4X400 relay team also ran the third fastest time in history, while the Thundering Herd set personal records in the 5K.

"All in all it was a great day for the Thundering Herd," noted head coach Jeff Small. "The weather was fantastic and it was a well run meet by Ohio."

Marshall track and field will return to the road for its next meet. The Thundering Herd competes in the Hilltopper Relays in Bowling Green, Ky. on March 14.
