HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Two of the Marshall baseball team's final three midweek games of the 2013 season are scheduled for this week as the Thundering Herd will play Morehead State on Tuesday before facing Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday.
Each game can be tracked through CBS GameTracker or by following Marshall baseball's official Twitter account @MU_Baseball.
Marshall (16-26, 5-10 Conference USA) is 57-72-3 in the all-time series against Morehead State (15-30, 9-12 Ohio Valley Conference). The Eagles represent one of three teams the Herd has met more than 100 times (Charleston (W.Va.) and Ohio).
Morehead State defeated Marshall twice last season, with wins of 11-8 (March 13) and 7-2 (April 17). Sophomore Eric Escobedo went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the April meeting.
Marshall is 28-38 all-time versus Eastern Kentucky (15-26, 11-10 Ohio Valley Conference) which includes a 10-3 loss on April 3 of this season. In that meeting, senior Nathan Gomez and freshman Travis Myers each finished with two hits.
Since the April 3 meeting, Marshall and EKU have experienced contrasting success as the Herd is 5-9 over the last month and the Colonels are 9-6. Eastern Kentucky's 9-6 record during the last four weeks includes a three-game series sweep at Morehead State and a 10-3 loss to the Ohio Bobcats.
