Friday's official results

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Marshall senior Vanessa Jules produced a leap of 1.72 meters in the high jump and a time of 14.12 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles to claim 17th and 47th, respectively, in Friday's portion of the 2013 NCAA East Preliminaries at North Carolina A&T.

Marshall's only competitor in action on Friday, Jules entered the high jump ranked No. 14 and hoped to add a second reason for going to the NCAA championships next month, having already qualified in the heptathlon. It was Auburn's Monica Carney, though, who grabbed the final qualifying spot when she succeeded in the 1.77 meter leap.

Earlier in the afternoon, Jules ran the 100 meter hurdles in 14.12 seconds, placing 47th overall in the event. The 100 meter hurdles was won by Clemson's Brianna Rollins with a time of 12.72.

One more day of action remains in this year's NCAA East Prelims, and Marshall will send athletes to three events on the Saturday session.

First up Saturday will be Amanda Kennedy in the javelin at 12 p.m. Crystal Walker and Jasia Richardson will then compete in the triple jump at 5:30 p.m.

Shanice Johnson, Loren Dyer, Kearra Haynes, and Amber Pierson will conclude the weekend, looking to add to Marshall's historic season in the 4x400 relay at 9:25 p.m.
