Marshall Volleyball Sets Target on Eastern Kentucky

Huntington, W.Va. -- Marshall volleyball will travel to Richmond, Ky. on Monday at 2 p.m., to take on Eastern Kentucky.
Marshall has started the 2013 season by going 1-2 in the Jefferson Cup tournament on Aug. 30-31. The Herd defeated Montana, 3-1 on Aug. 31, after dropping the first match of the season against Virginia, 3-0. Marshall concluded the tournament by dropping a heart-wrenching match against James Madison, 3-2 after winning the first two sets. The Herd is led by senior outside hitter, Laura Der, who has recorded 37 kills and 47 digs through the first three matches. The Thundering Herd is led by Head Coach Mitch Jacobs who is in his 12th year.
Eastern Kentucky started the 2013 season, 3-0 by taking all three in this past weekend's La Quinta Inn And Suites Highlander Invitational. EKU took the first match of the year against Kennesaw State, 3-2 on Aug. 30 before defeating Radford, 3-2 and North Carolina A&T State, 3-0 on Aug. 31. The Colonels are led by senior outside hitter, Ashley Edmond, who has tallied 48 kills and has posted a .244 hitting percentage through the first three matches. EKU is led by Head Coach Lori Duncan who is in her 16th season.
