IRVING, Texas - Following a runner-up finish at the Patriot Intercollegiate, Marshall's Clark Robinson (South Windsor, Conn.) was named Conference USA Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.

The award is the second of the sophomore's career. He earned the honor last season by championing the same event with the same score (3-under-par 210) in Lorton, Va. (Sept. 29, 2013). Robinson is the fifth Marshall golfer to earn the honor, and the first since Brian Anania (Hurricane, W.Va.) won it last season after winning the Bearcat Invitational (Oct. 9, 2013).

"Clark really played well this week," Coach Matt Grobe said. "This is the second year in a row that he has finished with a 66 at Laurel Hill Golf Course. I bet he wishes all our rounds were played there. After getting off to a slow start this year with some back issues, he has put that behind him and has played some great golf. I am so happy that he has been named Conference USA Golfer of the Week."

For the second consecutive year at the event, Robinson shot a career-low round of 66 during the final 18 holes, becoming the eighth player in Marshall history to shoot a 66 and the only Herd player to do it twice. The runner-up finish is the second of his career and marked the sixth time he has posted a top-10 finish. Robinson led the Herd to a second-place team finish at the event with a three-round total of 2-over 854.

Next, the Herd heads to Hebron, Ky., for the Bearcat Invitational on Oct. 7-8. For all the latest information about Marshall men's golf, follow @HerdMWGolf on Twitter.
