Marshall Completes Round 1 at Bearcat Invitational
10/6/2014 12:00:00 AM | Men's Golf
HEBRON, Ky. - Following a three-hour rain delay that shortened play from two 18-hole rounds to one, Marshall men's golf tied for seventh moving into the final day at the Bearcat Invitational.
Sophomore Will Evans (Charleston, W.Va.) leads the Thundering Herd at 3-over-par 75 in a tie for 17th with 12 other players. As a team, Marshall sits in seventh with Dayton and Cleveland State at a 15-over 303.
Second-round action started before play for the day was called due to weather. There will be an attempt made tomorrow to complete all scheduled 54 holes of the tournament. However, if conditions do not improve, the tournament will be decided by 36 holes.
ON THE LEADERBOARD
Host Cincinnati leads at 1-over 289, followed by Eastern Kentucky (4-over 292) and Belmont (7-over 295). Belmont's Ashton Van Horne tops the individual field at 5-under 67.
GABBING WITH GROBE
Quotes by Coach Matt Grobe:
On weather conditions affecting play:
"The weather was not ideal. We got off to a bad start and then didn't come out of the rain delay in a good position. I hope that tomorrow we can come back and play the golf I know we are capable of."
