HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Coach Mitch Jacobs and the Marshall volleyball staff have announced two signees in the 2015-16 recruiting class.
Lauren Mattmuller and Shelby Conley signed to play for the Herd program.
"We are very excited to have Lauren and Shelby sign with the Herd," Jacobs said. "They are both very dynamic with big arms on the attack and also possess the skill set to play six rotations. Another big plus from both of these two is their blocking skills."
"There will be a learning curve as we look to play them at the pins," Jacobs continued. "They have both mainly played middle throughout high school and club volleyball. I can't say enough about the character of these young ladies as well. Both come from fantastic families and I am very proud to be adding two more high-character young women to our program."
Lauren "Lolo" Mattmuller, 5-11, Venice High School Hometown: Venice, Fla.
Mattmuller comes to Marshall after an impressive high school career. Lolo led the Indians to four district championships, three regional championships, and two state titles.
Mattmuller was hailed as one of the top freshmen in the nation in 2011 and one of the top sophomores in 2012 by MaxPreps. Lolo was named the AVCA 6A Region Player of the Year during her senior season, and was listed in the Top 250 in the 2015 Recruiting Class by Prep Volleyball.
The outside hitter collected 174 kills in 64 sets played, boasting a .450 hitting percentage with 24 service aces her senior season.
Mattmuller will graduate in May with a 4.3 GPA and plans to major in biology.
Shelby Conley, 5-11, Johnson Central High School Hometown: Paintsville, Ky.
Conley has spent four years with the Eagles, who finished the season as the District 57 runners-up. Conley was named 15th Region Player of the Year and also earned first team All-Kentucky honors in 2012, 2013, and 2014.
Conley was awarded AVCA Under Armor All-American Honorable Mention honors after her senior season. The outside hitter tallied 688 kills with a .484 hitting percentage and 165 total blocks.
