@HerdVolleyball Opens C-USA Tournament Against Rice

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -
Marshall volleyball will play in its third consecutive Conference USA Tournament beginning Friday, Nov. 21 in Hattiesburg, Miss. The No. 5 seeded Herd is slated to take on fourth-seeded Rice at 3 p.m. (ET) at Reed Green Coliseum.



Marshall upset Rice 3-2 last weekend in Houston, and has won seven of its last ten games. The Herd finished the year at 16-15 (10-6 C-USA).

Sophomore Allie Kellerman (Louisville, Ky.) was named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week after shelling out 45 digs in the Herd's final regular season weekend, including a career-high 25 against Rice.



Senior Sammie Bane (Brownstown, Ind.) and sophomore Ally Kiekover (Grand Rapids, Mich.) were both named to the C-USA All-Academic Team and the C-USA All-Conference second team earlier this week.



Bane leads the Herd with 1,108 assists, while Kiekover has a team-best 330 kills.



Junior Lauren Legge (Pliny, W.Va.) has turned in double-digit kills in nine of her last 10 games. Legge is second on the squad with 316.



SCOUTING THE OWLS



Rice (21-9, 11-5 C-USA) finished the season with losses to Marshall and UTSA last weekend.



The Owls placed four on all-conference teams, and one on the all-freshman squad.



Kills leader Leah Mikesky (369) earned second team honors, while blocks leader Jillian Humphrey (103) was named to the first team.
