HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall baseball will hold its first wave of winter instructional camps starting in December.
The Elite Prospect Camp will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10 and will feature a morning and afternoon sessions.
The Prospect camp will feature a morning session of instruction for pitchers and catchers. The pitching portion will be led by former Major League pitcher and current Herd coach Josh Newman and will cover areas such as mechanical drills, weight training, bullpen and long- toss routines, and arm care.
This camp is designed to allow current high school freshmen through junior college sophomores (junior college freshmen must be an academic qualifier) the chance to learn the skills needed to compete at the next level while receiving instruction from current Marshall baseball coaches and staff.
The afternoon session of the prospect camp will be devoted to teach baseball fundamentals exclusively. A great deal of instruction and individual attention will be given to each camper to assist him in developing sound technique in hitting, bunting, fielding, throwing, and base-running.
The camp will be held in Marshall's new state-of-the-art Chris Cline Athletic Complex's indoor facility. The facility features a full 100-yard football field, batting cages, and portable mounds.
