Marshall Looks to Crush Colonels Wednesday

HUNTINGTON, W. Va.--Marshall baseball heads to Richmond, Ky. Wednesday to face Eastern Kentucky in its second game of the week. First pitch is set for 3:00 pm.
The Herd will enter the game on a three-game win streak after sweeping Conference USA foe Tulane over the weekend and taking a Tuesday showdown with Akron 5-2.
Marshall faced the Colonels twice last season, taking the second game 7-4 in Richmond.

Marshall nabbed its third consecutive win, and its first midweek win of the season, Tuesday after defeating Akron 5-2.
Junior Sergio Leon (Miami) went 3-4 with a run and RBI in the contest, and redshirt sophomore Robert Fajardo (Miami) went 2-3 also with a run and RBI.
Redshirt sophomore Lance Elder (Miami) earned his first save of the year, after tossing two innings and grabbing three strikeouts out of six batters.
On the mound for Marshall will be sophomore Chase Boster (Stafford, Va.). In 10 appearances this season, the righty posts a 1-0 record with a 3.12 ERA and six Ks.
SCOUTING THE COLONELS
Eastern Kentucky posts a record of 12-15 and is 4-5 in the Ohio Valley Conference. EKU is coming off falling in two of three to the University of Evansville, winning the finale of the series 3-2 Sunday.
The Colonels are led offensively by seniors Sean Hagen and Bryan Soloman, and sophomore Kyle Nowlin, who support batting averages of .341, .322, and .321 respectively. Hagen and Nowlin each have six homeruns on the season.
Getting the start for EKU will be freshman Brian Mroz, who boasts a 5.40 ERA with a 2-0 record. The righty has 10 strikeouts in 11.2 innings of work this season for the Colonels.
