Senior running back Remi Watson - usually No. 8 - wore No. 47 today as tribute to senior running back Devon Johnson, who remains out due to injury.
Marshall game captains at Middle Tennessee, as selected by Coach Doc Holliday and his staff -- Offense: Davonte Allen, wide receiver; Ryan Yurachek, tight end; Defense: Jarquez Samuel, nose tackle; Evan McKelvey, linebacker.
Tyler Williams' 52-yard punt (11:45, first quarter) is his 19th punt of 50 or more yards this season and the 57th of his career.
Marshall fumble recovery in first quarter - first forced fumble of senior defensive tackle Steve Dillon's career and first career fumble recovery by linebacker Devontre'a Tyler.
At 5:50 in the first quarter, running back Hyleck Foster's 30-yard halfback pass to wide receiver Justin Hunt was the first running back pass attempt and completion by Marshall in the Coach Doc Holliday era (2010-2015). The last running back pass attempt was on Sept. 26, 2009, by Darius Marshall - a 27-yard completion to freshman wide receiver Aaron Dobson on the second play of the third quarter in a 27-16 win over Memphis at the Liberty Bowl. Darius Marshall also ran for 203 yards and three touchdowns that day.
Tight end Emanuel Byrd's 1-yard scoring catch (4:23, first quarter) was his first career touchdown for Marshall.

At 4:12 in the second quarter, quarterback Chase Litton intercepted by MTSU linebacker T.T. Barber is Marshall's first turnover since 4:35 of second quarter in Oct. 17 win at Florida Atlantic (a Litton interception) - just more than 12 quarters.
Marshall's fourth-down stop of Middle Tennessee at 10:39 in the third quarter was the Herd's 14th fourth-down stop of the season.
