Herd Dominates Marshall Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- The Marshall women's track and field team posted a commanding victory this weekend, topping eight teams at Jeff Small Track in the Chris Cline Indoor Complex.
Marshall finished first with a score of 154 points, followed by Ohio (99), Radford (87.5), Virginia Tech (67), UNC Asheville (45.5), Duquesne (30), Morehead State (7) and Wofford (5).
Catika Slay (5.48 meters) won the long jump, while Antonique Butler (11.89 meters) and Loren Dyer (11.86) went 1-2 in the triple jump.
Marshall took all three of the top spots in the 60 meter dash, as Isatu Fofanah (7.50 seconds) won, followed by Hope Julmiste (7.66) and Kametra Byrd (7.67).
Shanice Johnson (56.63 seconds) and Dyer (58.21) finished first and second in the 400 meter dash.
The Herd took all three top spots again in the 200 meter dash as Fofanah (24.23 seconds) won, followed by Shyra Molton (24.77) and Byrd (24.87).
The Marshall "A" 4x400 relay team emerged victorious as well, posting a time of 3:46.57 seconds. The team consisted of (Naja Greer, Dyer, Molton and Johnson).
Marshall will be back in action Friday at the Buckeye Tuneup in Columbus, Ohio).
