Herd Moves into Third at Pinehurst Intercollegiate

Day 2 Results
PINEHURST, N.C. - Led by Logan Lagodich (Canton, Ohio), all five competing members of the Marshall men's golf team posted improved scores during the second round of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate at Pinehurst No. 8 on Saturday.
After posting a tournament-low 15-over 299 team score on Day 2, the Thundering Herd moved up leaderboard from sixth place into third, sitting at 47-over 615. Marshall's three-spot jump was the largest of any team.
Lagodich bettered his score by seven strokes in the second 18-hole round, moving up from a tie for 16th into fourth place out of 65 individuals. The junior carded an even 71 to bring his two-day total to 7-over-par 149, eight strokes behind the leader. He posted a tournament-best 2-under 4.67 average on par-5 scoring, and led Marshall to post the best team average on par 5 at 4-over 5.13.
Additionally, freshman Alex Weiss (Pickerington, Ohio) led the overall field in par-3 scoring with a 1-under 2.88 average. He improved by five strokes in the second round with a 4-over 75.
ON THE LEADERBOARD
Belmont continues to lead the tournament at 30-over 598, holding a 16-stroke margin ahead of Dayton (46-over 614). Ashton Van Horne, of the leading team, tops the individual field at 1-under 141.

"We played so much better today. Finished with the low round of the day. The guys really responded well after a disappointing day yesterday. Logan [Lagodich] put together a great round. The weather was awful today; rain all day and then strong wind gusts at the end of play. Our goal coming into the day was to get into the final grouping and we accomplished that. Looking forward to tomorrow."
