Baseball Ready to Battle in Birmingham

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - For the second consecutive year, Marshall baseball (6-13. 0-3 C-USA) travels to Birmingham, Ala., to face Conference USA opponent UAB (10-8, 0-3 C-USA) at Regions Field, home of the Barons, the Class AA affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
The Sunday finale will be televised on American Sports Network and local affiliates, and is the second time the Herd has been televised this season. It is the first televised contest between two C-USA teams and is slated to begin at 1:05 (ET).

Friday and Saturday's game can be viewed via live streaming links provided, and live stats are available for all three games.

Marshall dropped two midweek contests, falling 8-4 to Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday and 7-1 to Morehead State on Wednesday.
Senior Sergio Leon (Miami) continues to lead the Herd, boasting a .385 batting average and is in a three-way tie for second on the team with 11 RBI. The shortstop also is second on the team in runs (11), first in stolen bases (6), and tied for first in hits (25).
In conference statistics, Leon is ranked 4th in batting average, 12th in on-base percentage and hits, and 3rd in sac bunts and stolen bases.

SCOUTING THE BLAZERS
UAB is coming off a series sweep by Middle Tennessee and a Tuesday loss to Auburn. Junior Adam Smith owns a team-high .323 batting average, and senior Jeff Schalk is first in RBI (13) and tied for the team lead with two home runs.
The UAB pitching staff has a team ERA of 3.22 and 131 strikeouts in 18 games.
