HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall baseball (8-18, 2-7, C-USA) heads to Oxford, Ohio, to take on former Mid-American Conference foe Miami (Oh) (4-19, 2-4 MAC) for a Wednesday showdown at 6 p.m. at McKie Field at Hayden Park.
The contest will be the 98th meeting all-time between the two schools. The Herd was victorious in the last outing, pulling out an extra-inning 4-3 win in to open its 2011 season.
Live stats and video will be available, as well as in-game updates via the @HerdBaseball Twitter account.
HAVE YOU HERD?
Marshall picked up its second league win over the weekend against FIU with its first walk-off victory of the season. Senior Andrew Dundon (Lincoln Park, N.J.) laced a single down the right field line, scoring classmate TJ Diffenderfer (Mount Juliet, Tenn.) and propelling the Herd to a 5-4 win.
Junior DJ Gee (Seattle) led the MU offense during the FIU series, going 5-for-11, including a 3-for-5, two run performance in the Herd's victory.
Junior Chase Boster (Stafford, Va.) will make his first start since February 21. The righty has appeared twice in relief since then, allowing his first three runs of the season. Boster currently supports a 2.70 ERA with 11 K's. Boster has picked up the Herd's first win in each the 2013, 2014, and 2015 seasons.
SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS
Miami faces off against No. 7 Louisville on Tuesday before hosting the Herd. The Redhawks have faced two other ranked opponents this season (Mississippi State, South Carolina), and have wins against Western Michigan, USC Upstate, and Furman. Miami is led by senior outfielder Matt Honchel, who carries a .414 batting average with 12 runs and 12 RBI.
UP NEXT
The Herd travels to Boca Raton, Fla., for a three-game series beginning Friday, April 3, against No. 22 Florida Atlantic. Saturday's game (April 4) will be televised on American Sports Network.
