HAVE YOU HERD?

Freshman Tyler Ratliff (Alexandria, Va.) made his first career starts at third base for Marshall over the weekend, and the utility man raked his second career home run in MU's 8-6 victory on Sunday. Ratliff's long ball brought the Herd's team total to 17 home runs, with three other players (senior TJ Diffenderfer (Mount Juliet, Tenn.) (3), senior Josh King (Troup, Ga.) (3), and sophomore Matt Reed (Purcellville, Va.) (2)) registering multiple homers and 13 others with one apiece.

Marshall needs just one more to tie its season total from 2012. The Herd has already surpassed the team totals from both 2013 and 2014.

After picking up his team-high third win on Sunday, junior southpaw Caleb Ross (Barboursville, W.Va.) (3-2, 2.30 ERA) is expected to get the start. It will be his second start during his time with the Herd.

SCOUTING THE ZIPS

Sophomore Josh Davis will get the start for Akron. In 20.1 innings pitched, the right-hander has an 8.41 ERA with 23 strikeouts. Senior Joey Havrilak leads the Zips' offensively, with a team-best .367 batting average and 44 hits.
