Fofanah Advances to 100 Meter Quarterfinal at NCAA East Regional

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Marshall redshirt sophomore Isatu Fofanah posted a 100 meter time of 11.60 seconds to advance to Friday's quarterfinal (6:30 p.m.) at the NCAA East Regional. The meet, which runs through Saturday, is being held at Hodges Stadium, on the campus of the University of North Florida.
A total of 24 runners (top three finishers from each of the six heats and then the top six fastest times) advanced. Fofanah finished fifth in her heat, but it proved to be the toughest of the day as its top five finishers placed among the top 15 times overall. Her time was the second-fastest of all the times that didn't automatically qualify, andit came in a -0.6 head wind.
After Friday's race, Fofanah will also compete in the first round of the 200 meter event at 8 p.m. If she advances, she will run at 7:35 p.m. Saturday in the quarterfinal.
The top 12 finishers in both quarterfinals will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon (June 10-13).
