HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall baseball has added to its 2016 signing class with addition of left-handed pitcher Parker Danciu, the team announced Friday.
Danciu will join the Herd after spending a year at Palm Beach State Community College. Prior to that, the now sophomore spent a season at the University of Florida.
In one season with the Panthers, Danciu has logged 73.1 innings with 45 strikeouts and a 2.21 ERA. Danciu averages 5.52 K's per game.
During his time at Florida, he went 2-0 with a 4.35 ERA in 18 relief appearances, with a 3.27 ERA in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play (10 appearances).
Danciu played high school ball at West Boca High School in Boca Raton, Fla., where he went 4-4 with a 1.47 ERA during his final season and was ranked in the top 500 by Perfect Game, No. 78 in the state of Florida, and No. 11 among left-handed high school pitchers.
Coach Waggoner on Parker: "We are very excited to bring Parker aboard! He is going to be a frontline starter for us and someone who brings a lot of experience.  He has pitched at the top level in college and has now led Palm Beach State to a conference championship as their number one starter."
Danciu becomes the 10th member of the 2016 signing class, joining three other junior college players and six high school seniors.
