Marshall Men's Golf Team in Sixth Place after Day One at Patriot Intercollegiate

LORTON, Va. - The Marshall men's golf team has ended the first day of competition at the Patriot Intercollegiate in sixth place.

Sophomore Alex Weiss (Pickerington, Ohio) is the highest ranked Herd player in the event currently tied for sixth overall at even-par. Junior Clark Robinson (South Windsor, Conn.) sits tied for 12th overall at two-over. "Alex and Clark continued their good play," Head Coach Matt Grobe stated about his two leaders. "They have been playing some good golf."

In the team setting the Herd are sixth overall, four shots back of the host school George Mason for fifth place. "As a team we made to many mistakes today that led to some big numbers," Coach Grobe said. "Hopefully tomorrow we can get off to a good start and minimize mistakes."

West Florida leads in team play at even-par. Jimmy Grem of Towson leads the player leaderboard at 11-under.

The final round of the Patriot Intercollegiate gets started Monday morning Sept. 28, 8:15 a.m. The first player for Marshall will be Will Evans as his group's tee time is scheduled for 8:45 a.m.
