Marshall Men’s Golf Heads To EKU Colonel Classic

54-hole weekend event gets started on Saturday at University Club
RICHMOND, Ky. – Marshall Men's Golf is headed to the EKU Colonel Classic, which gets started Saturday at University Club at Arlington in Richmond, Ky.
The 54-hole event features representatives from 11 teams and gets underway with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. Saturday's action will feature 36 holes at the 6,714-yard course with tournament play wrapping up on Sunday.
"We are excited to get to University Club and face good competition in a regional event hosted by EKU," Marshall Men's Golf coach Matt Grobe said. "It will be a great test for our team to see how they perform away from home."
Herd team members competing this week include Wes Lorish, Cael Ropietski, Clayton Thomas, Tanner Vest, Jackson Woodburn and Jack Minutoli. Sammy Shy will compete as an individual.
Lorish is coming off a strong effort in his debut as a collegiate player, having finished T-4 at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational earlier this month. He leads the Herd into the tournament this week.
Other teams who are competing in the event include host Eastern Kentucky, Tennessee State, Kentucky State, Longwood, Prairie View A&M, Mercyhurst, Univ. of Pikeville and Centre College. Kentucky and Louisville are also sending players down to compete as individuals.
