IRVING, Texas - Marshall seniors Allie Kellerman and Ally Kiekover were named to the 2016 Conference USA InTouch Credit Union Volleyball All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office Friday.

"This is a special award because it's the award that makes future employers and future graduate school acceptance boards pay attention to," head coach Mitch Jacobs said. "This is an award that says, I go much deeper than just being an athlete. Ally [Kiekover] and Allie [Kellerman] are two true student-athletes that just stand out in overall achievement. They are as all of our seniors have been, excellent role models."

Kellerman and Kiekover are two of 11 student-athletes selected to the C-USA All-Academic team. Marshall is the only school to have at least two student-athletes selected, and it's the Herd's fifth-straight season with two selected.

Kellerman, a three-time honoree of the Commissioner's Honor Roll and two-time recipient of the C-USA Academic Medal, has a 3.75 cumulative GPA as an accounting major. This is the Louisville, Ky., natives second time as a member of the C-USA All-Academic team.

The recently named Libero of the Year ranks second in C-USA for total digs with 482 and is third for digs per set with 4.50 this season. Kellerman holds the second spot for digs in league matches with 233 digs. The senior had a season-high 31 digs at Charlotte (Nov. 6). Kellerman has a team-high 29 aces. She is third all-time in Herd history with 1,656 career digs.

Kiekover, a three-time All-Academic team selection, supports a 3.84 cumulative GPA as a biological science major with a chemistry and management minor. The Grand Rapids, Mich., native has made the Commissioner's Honor Roll and earned the C-USA Academic Medal the last three seasons. She was named the C-USA Scholar Athlete of the Year last season for volleyball.

The middle blocker became the eighth Herd student-athlete to record 1,000 kills in her career earlier this season. Kiekover ranks third on the team with 233 kills and holds a .351 hitting percentage. She is also third in league matches with 121 kills at a .316 clip. Kiekover had a career-high .714 hitting percentage this season at Bowling Green (Sept. 7) and a season-best 17 kills at Charlotte (Nov. 6). The senior leads the Herd in blocks with 40 in C-USA matches.

Marshall starts the 2016 Conference USA Volleyball Championship Friday at 6 p.m. (ET) against the host Rice Owls. The Thundering Herd claimed the third seed in the eight-team tournament with a 22-7 overall record and 11-3 in C-USA play. Every match of the championship will be aired on CUSA.TV.
