HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall track and field team returns to action Friday in its final regular-season indoor competition, the one-day Buckeye Tune-up, hosted by Ohio State. The meet starts at 4 p.m. at French Field House.

The Buckeye Tune-up is designed for teams to prepare for their respective conference meets. This is Marshall's last meet before the Conference USA Indoor Championships on Feb. 24-25 in Birmingham, Ala.

Last week in the Chipotle Marshall Invitational, the Herd finished with a strong third-place showing. Marshall picked up three wins in track events. Senior Asia Bange won the 60-meter hurdles (8.63 seconds), a new school and meet record. Freshman Elisabeth Paulina reset her 400-meters school record, with a first place time of 55.34, a meet record as well.

In the 4x400-meter relay, Marshall's "A" team of Breanna Hargrove, Paulina, Naja Greer and Shanice Johnson finished first with a time of 3:50.95.

In field events, senior Karena Fulks had an impressive finish in long jump, with a second place jump of 5.56m. The Herd's Antonique Butler also finished second in triple jump, with a jump of 12.36m.

"This meet is really a prep for conference," Marshall coach Jeff Small said. "Some of our kids we will leave at home to train them and rest them up, but it is a prep. We're running the 800-meter folks in the 600 and the milers in the 800, and the 3,000 people in the mile and the 5,000 people in the 3,000, so it's kind of a shakeup and just a fine-tuning for the Conference USA meet next week."
