Herd Track and Field to Compete in Akron Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W. VA. - Marshall University's track and field team returns to competition Friday, traveling to Akron, Ohio to compete in the Akron Invitational.
The meet starts Friday at 3 p.m. and continues Saturday at 10 a.m. A schedule of events is available here.
Marshall is coming off of a sixth place finish out of 19 competing teams at the Thundering Herd Invitational.
Herd freshman Elisabeth Paulinabroke the school record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.78, which eclipsed the previous mark held by Yvonne Ferguson from 2004.
The 4x400 relay won first place as well. The runners were Paulina, sophomore Breanna Hargrove, senior Shyra Molton and senior Shanice Johnson. The quartet finished with a time of 3:49.61.
"We've had a great week of practice coming off of the Thundering Herd Invitational last weekend," Marshall coach Jeff Small said. "We are looking forward to going up to Akron and improving both our times and our distances."
