HAVE YOU HERD?
It was one for the record books as Marshall dropped a wild western shootout at UTEP on Thursday night, 112-108, at Don Haskins Center. Despite five double-figure scorers in the book for the Thundering Herd, Marshall dropped its second consecutive Conference USA game. The 220 combined points were the most in a regulation game for the Herd since a 125-104 loss against Western Carolina on Feb. 6, 1996. Senior forward James Kelly (Ann Arbor, Mich.), led a trio of 20-point scorers for Marshall, contributing 26. Jon Elmore (Charleston, W.Va.) had 21, and Ryan Taylor (Indianapolis) had 20. Redshirt freshman C.J. Burks (Martinsburg, W.Va.) had 16 points off the bench and Stevie Browning (Logan, W.Va.) had 11 points to round out the double-digit scorers.

A WIN WOULDââ'¬Â¦

- Give Marshall its best 11-game start to league play since going 8-3 in the 1996-97 Southern Conference under Greg White

- Be the Herd's first against UTSA (0-2 all-time)

- Give the Herd its most wins in a season (12) since going 13-19 in 2012-13, and its most Conference USA wins (8) since going 9-7 in 2011-12

- Give Marshall its fourth road win, most in a single season since going 5-8 away from Huntington in 2011-12

SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS
UTSA (4-19, 2-8) is in the midst of a five-game slump, with three of those losses coming at home. The Roadrunners' two wins in Conference USA play are against Rice (Jan. 3) and UTEP (Jan. 16). UTSA allows the most points per game in the league (84.2) with a minus-12.7 scoring margin. Christian Wilson leads the team with 17.3 points per game, and Ryan Bowie is not far behind with 17.1 per game. Bowie is the Roadrunner's top rebounder with 7.1 per outing.

Marshall is 0-2 all-time against UTSA, 0-1 when playing in San Antonio, and 0-1 under coach Dan D'Antoni. Last year, the Roadrunners claimed a 82-68 win in Huntington (Jan. 22, 2015).
