HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall baseball travels to I-64 rival Morehead State to close out its season series with the Eagles in a midweek clash on Wednesday at 4 p.m. (ET).

ON THE MOUND
Freshman Joshua Shapiro (Columbus, Ohio) is scheduled to get the start for the Thundering Herd (13-9), while right-hander Luke Humphreys (3-2) gets the nod for Morehead State.

Shapiro (0-1) has made nine appearances for Marshall this season, including three starts. In the game earlier this year against the Eagles, Shapiro went 4.1 innings, with two strikeouts, allowing one earned run.

THE HOMERING HERD
On Saturday, Marshall hit its 21st home run of the season, which ties its total from last season. Marshall is led by Tommy Lane (Pendleton, Ore.) with seven home runs, while Cory Garrastazu (Miami) and Sam Finfer (Bellevue, Wash.) are tied with four. Marshall ranks 41st in the nation in home runs, and is second in Conference USA, trailing Southern Miss (33).

A MONTH TO REMEMBER
The Thundering Herd has won 12 out of 16 games in March and collected three series wins. Marshall began the month with a three-game sweep over Lehigh, which was then followed up by a four-game sweep over Brown. The Herd clinched its third series with two wins in Miami over FIU this past weekend. The Herd also had midweek wins over Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky.

HUSTLING HERD
Marshall leads Conference USA in stolen bases with 36, good for 47th in the country. Corey Bird (Elkview, W.Va.) and DJ Gee (Seattle) lead the Herd with 12 and 11 stolen bases, respectively.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Morehead State (14-9) snapped a six-game losing skid this past weekend, winning the final two games of a series against Belmont. The Eagles hold a .315 team batting average and are led by Alex Stephens, who is 38-for-99 (.384). Stephens has 27 RBIs, including 14 extra-base hits.
