IRVING, Texas - Marshall senior Chase Boster has been named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week after he tossed his second complete game of his career with a career-high eight strikeouts against Old Dominion on Thursday.

The Stafford, Va., native allowed two earned runs on five hits and led the Thundering Herd to a 5-3 win over the Monarchs. The win allowed Marshall to set a new program record for victories in a season with 31 wins, now 32. The Herd broke the record of 30 wins that was set by the 2008 squad.

Boster moved into a tie with Grant Harper (2001-04) and Albie DeYoung (1975-78) for the most wins in program history with 19.

"This is a great honor for Chase," said Herd coach Jeff Waggoner. "Chase has been our Friday guy since his freshman season and I wouldn't want anyone else to lead us every series."

Boster holds a 7-2 overall record with a 3.55 ERA this season. He has a team-high 91.1 innings pitched and 70 strikeouts. In league play, Boster is 6-1 with a 2.88 ERA and has won his last five conference games.

Boster is the first Herd player to receive the weekly honor since Joshua Shapiro was selected on April 18.

Marshall returns to action Wednesday at the Conference USA tournament against the FIU Panthers at 8:30 p.m. (ET). For more information on the C-USA tournament, please visit the championship central page here.
