Academic Honors Roll In For Alexandra Phares

C-USA All-Academic Team Release | CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams (PDF)

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.-Senior Distance Runner Alexandra Phares (Morgantown, W.Va.) has been named to the 2016 Conference USA Track & Field All-Academic Team. Phares is a geography major, and her impressive 4.0 grade point average helped put her on the team which features 17 women and 11 men.

The honorees for the All-Academic Team were voted upon by the league's track & field media relations directors. Student-athletes must hold a minimum 3.2 grade point average and have used a year of eligibility.

On Thursday, Phares was named to the District 2 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District squad for Track & Field/Cross Country. She was one of seven C-USA Student-Athletes to be named to Academic All-District team, and additionally this makes Phares eligible for the Academic All-American team to be announced in June.

Earlier in the season, Phares was named a C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal Recipient and to the Commissioner's Honor Roll. These honors she has achieved all four years of her collegiate career.

This year in track, Phares won two events, winning the 5,000-m run at both the Marshall Indoor Invitational (17:56.87) and at the North Florida Spring Break Invitational (17:52.87). She additionally posted two other top-three finishes, and she qualified for four C-USA Championship events, finishing top-20 in three of the four.
