@HerdBaseball to Host Hitting and Pitching Camp in July

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall baseball coaching staff will be teaming up with Cleveland Indians hitting coordinator Jim Rickon to offer a special opportunity for individual hitting, pitching and defense instruction at the Columbus Academy in Gahanna, Ohio on July 11-12.
The camp will consist of a 3 1/2 hour session each day, which includes individual hitting and pitching analysis from Rickon, Conference USA Coach of the Year Jeff Waggoner and the Thundering Herd coaching staff. In addition, the camp will also have a strength program designed to increase the camper's knowledge on strength & conditioning and nutrition. It will also discuss with campers the importance of academics.
Each day will be run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The first session held will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for grades three through eight, while the second session is 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. for grades nine through 12. Pitching will be held on July 11 and hitting will be held on July 12. The cost of each day is $150, but if you'd like to attend both camps the cost is $250.
The Thundering Herd is coming off its best season in program history with 34 wins. The Herd was in the top 5 of 17 different offensive categories in Conference USA play this past season. Marshall was first in hits (315), RBI (189), home runs (36), doubles (69), total bases (504) and stolen bases (50).
Jim Rickon is currently the Hitting Coordinator for the Cleveland Indians. Now in his 18th year with the Indians, Jim has been a hitting coach at every level for the organization (A-AAA) working with many of the past and present stars of the Tribe.
Pitching will be led by Thundering Herd Assistant Coach Josh Newman, former Ohio State Buckeye and Major League pitcher with the Colorado Rockies and Kansas City Royals.
