Herd Track and Field Announces 2017-18 Schedule

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.-The Marshall University track and field coaching staff led by head coach Jeff Small announced the 2017-18 schedule on Tuesday.
14 indoor and outdoor regular season meets line the schedule, in addition with the Conference USA Championships during both the indoor and outdoor season.
The team will host four meets at the Jeff Small Track at the Chris Cline Indoor Athletic Complex. The Marshall Women's Classic is a new meet which will take place at the home facility of the Thundering Herd. The meet is scheduled for Saturday, January 13, 2018.
The season opens on Thursday, December 7, 2017 for the Ohio Dual Meet. The team opens its season in a dual meet against the Bobcats for the third time in the past four years. The team will also host the Thundering Herd Invitational (January 26-27) and the Chipotle Marshall Invitational (February 9-10) again in 2018.
The Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships are set for Birmingham, Alabama (hosted by UAB) on February 17-18. The NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships are set for College Station, Texas (hosted by Texas A&M) on March 9-10.
The outdoor slate gets underway at the 49er Classic hosted by Charlotte on Thursday, March 15. The three day meet leads into spring break for Marshall University.
The Herd will send members in 2018 to San Luis Obispo, California for a week of training over the spring break period. It leads up to the Cal Poly Invitational on Saturday, March 24.
The outdoor regular season will additionally see the team travel to Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky. It leads up to the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Houston, Texas beginning on Thursday, May 10 hosted by Rice.
The NCAA East Preliminary Championships will be hosted by South Florida in Tampa, Florida from Thursday to Saturday, May 24-26. The NCAA Championships will take place in Eugene, Oregon beginning on Wednesday, June 6.
