Thundering Herd Welcomes Mean Green, 49ers for Weekend Matches

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall Volleyball will be back in the Cam Henderson Center for matches against North Texas Friday (6 p.m.) and Charlotte Sunday (1 p.m.).
Parents who bring their children will receive $2 admission to both matches. Also, the first 100 scouts at Friday's North Texas contest will receive a Marshall patch and those who arrive in uniform will gain free entry.

This is the first North Texas-Marshall meeting of 2017. The 49ers defeated Thundering Herd 3-1 in the Queen City on September 22.

Marshall (9-16 overall, 4-6 Conference USA) dropped a 3-1 decision at (now) nationally-ranked WKU Friday, snapping the Hilltoppers' 30-set win streak in the process. Marshall fell 3-0 at Florida Atlantic on Sunday.
The Thundering Herd's Jac'cara Walker is seventh in the league in service aces per set (0.34), as is Jessa Long in digs (3.59). Madelyn Cole and Addisyn Rowe are eighth in assists (9.92) and blocks (1.08), respectively. Madison Hill is 10th in kills (3.46).
Scouting the Mean Green
North Texas (22-2, 9-1) enters Friday's match second in the conference standings behind WKU. Their only losses came to Texas Tech on August 26 (3-1) and at Southern Miss (3-2) on September 22.
The Mean Green lead the league in kills per set (14.98). Individually, Amanda Chamberlain is second in hitting percentage (.426), as is reigning C-USA Setter of the Week Karley York in assists (12.20). Alex Janak is third in service aces (0.41), with Henrianna Ibarra just behind in fourth (0.38).
Chamberlain also stands sixth in blocks (1.15) and Holly Milam (.365) is seventh in hitting percentage.
Scouting the 49ers
Charlotte (17-9, 4-6) is currently on a four-match skid, falling to Southern Miss (3-0) and Rice (3-1) last week.
The 49ers lead the conference in blocks per set (3.19) and boast three of the top four, individually, in the conference (Jocelyn Stoner-2nd, 1.35; Tatyana Thomas-3rd, 1.34; Alex Boone-4th, 1.31). Yumi Garcia leads the league in digs (5.08) and Sydney Rowan checks in at 10th (3.05). Thomas is also sixth in hitting percentage (.393) and Janell Sparks is seventh in kills (3.72).
