HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall women's tennis team hits the road for a match against in-state rival West Virginia Sunday. First serve is scheduled for noon at the Ridgeview Racquet Club.

HAVE YOU HERD?
Marshall is 5-3 following a 4-3 loss against Louisville Friday night. The Herd won three singles matches but failed to pick up the crucial doubles point. Derya Turhan, Maddie Silver and Anna Pomyatinskaya won the three singles matches for the Herd.

Silver leads the Herd with a 7-1 singles record, winning all seven matches at the No. 3 spot. Silver's lone loss this season came at the No. 2 spot against a ranked opponent from Kentucky. Turhan has a 6-1 record at the No. 1 spot and Stephanie Smith has a 5-2 record at the No. 2 spot.

The Herd features two doubles pairings with 6-2 records. Turhan and Pomyatinskaya have played every match at the No. 1 spot and Smith and Daniela Dankanych have played all of their matches at the No. 3 spot. Morales and Silver are 4-2 at the No. 2 spot.

Marshall is 14-1 in its last 15 matches against West Virginia. The lone loss came in 2013.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
West Virginia enters the weekend with a 3-4 record. The Mountaineers defeated Buffalo in their last match, 4-3, and play Virginia Tech Saturday before hosting the Herd.

Habiba Shaker leads the Mountaineers with a 5-2 record at the No. 1 spot. Shaker is the only player for West Virginia with a winning record in singles play. The doubles pairing of Paula Goetz and Yvon Martinez is 4-2 at the No. 3 doubles spot.

THE LAST MEETING

The Herd took the doubles point and split the six singles matches to defeat the Mountaineers. The win started a four-match win streak for the Herd.

The doubles pairings of Turhan and Pomyatinskaya and Silver and Morales won doubles matches for the Herd. Turhan, Pomyatinskaya and Marija Bogicevic won singles matches for the Herd. Bogicevic clinched the win for the Herd with a 6-3, 7-6 (3) win over Martinez.
