PINEHURST, N.C. - The Marshall men's golf team finished seventh place at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Alex Weiss was the top finisher for the Herd tied for 12th. Weiss' 72 was a one-stroke improvement from his previous round of one-over 73. Senior Clark Robinson finished one stroke behind Weiss to tie for 15th place.

FROM THE LEADERBOARD
Ball State won the team competition with a 30-over-par 882. It was seven strokes ahead of second-place Old Dominion. Elon's William Harwood won the individual title with a one-stroke lead over Timothy Wiseman of Ball State. Harwood finished with a 3-over 216.

COACH'S CORNER
Head coach Matt Grobe:

"We maintained our position and we hit a lot of good shots over the past two days. This was a perfect tournament for us to play in to start the spring. The course and its conditions were tough and we know what we need to do to improve. Alex and Clark both finished in the top 15 and are playing really good golf.

"We have a week of work at home, then we hit the road for back-to-back tournaments over spring break. I am really looking forward to practice this week and I look forward to seeing the improvement on the course over the next two tournaments in Williamsburg and Furman."
