HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall men's soccer team is back in action Saturday morning against Conference USA foe the Charlotte 49ers. Kickoff at Hoops Family Field is scheduled for 11 a.m.

The Thundering Herd enters the match with an overall record of 5-6-2 and 1-2-1 in C-USA action. The 49ers come in at 7-3-1 overall and 3-2-0 in conference play.

It is Alumni Weekend for the men's soccer team as former players make their way back in celebration with the current team.

For fans who cannot attend, the match will be broadcast live on HerdVision on CUSAtv as Jake Griffith will have the call.

Marshall is coming off a 2-1, double-overtime victory against Northern Kentucky at home. Freshman Gianni Bouzoukis scored both goals for the Herd. His first goal came in the 56th minute, the second and game-winning goal found the back of the net after just 56 seconds passed of the second overtime period. Senior Ben Martinez made his second appearance and first start of the year in goal for the Herd and recorded five saves.

Bouzoukis now leads Marshall with four goals and is tied with fellow freshman JP Rylah for tops in points with eight. Rylah has three goals and two assists.

Charlotte comes in after a 3-0 win over FIU this past Sunday. Charlotte's defense held the dangerous Panthers offense to eight total shots with just three on goal.

Ten different players have scored this season for Charlotte. Tommy Madden and Patrick Hogan lead the way with three. The 49ers defense has been outstanding in 2018 as the squad has allowed just seven goals in 11 contests, held opponents to 49 fewer shots and 14 fewer shots on goal. Elliot Panicco has 40 saves, a goals against average of 0.60 and an .851 save percentage. Charlotte's defense has seven shutouts.

The Herd stays home for one more match before hitting the road for back-to-back Conference USA matches. Marshall takes on Wright State on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m., at Hoops Family Field. The Herd then plays at New Mexico (Oct. 27) and at South Carolina (Oct. 30) before returning to Hoops Family Field for the regular season finale against Florida Atlantic (Nov. 3).
