Track and Field Announces 2018-19 Schedule

Four home meets headline schedule
HUNTINGTON, W.Va.—Marshall track and field head coach Jeff Small announced Tuesday the team's schedule for the 2018-19 season.

"We're really, really excited for this upcoming schedule," Small said. "Mainly we're just looking forward to the season with the development of our team and the addition of a great recruiting class this year. Many good meets headline the schedule."

The 2018-19 schedule will feature four home meets to take place at the Jeff Small Track at the Chris Cline Indoor Athletic Complex. The Marshall Opener will take place Friday, December 7 to open the season. Usually a dual meet against Ohio University, Northern Kentucky University will join the two squads in a tri-meet in 2018.

The season will resume on Saturday, January 12, 2019 with the second annual Marshall Women's Classic. Other home meets include the annual Thundering Herd Invitational (January 25-26) and Chipotle Marshall Invitational (February 8-9).

The Herd will travel to three other indoor meets including at the Virginia Military Institute, University of Notre Dame or University of Akron, and the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted in Birmingham, Alabama.

Outdoor season begins at Georgia Tech with the Yellow Jacket Invitational on March 15. Outdoor season will feature eight consecutive weekends of regular season meets in eight states, including the student-athletes spring break to be spent in Savannah, Georgia and Gainesville, Florida.

Regular staples at the Virginia Challenge and historic Penn Relays will continue in the 2019 outdoor season.

The Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be hosted by Charlotte in 2019 from May 9-12. The Herd will look to qualify at least one athlete for the NCAA East Preliminary Meet for the 12th consecutive year. It is hosted in Tampa, Florida from May 23-25 in 2019.
