BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Marshall women's soccer team is back in action for the regular season finale. The Herd takes on the WKU Lady Toppers, Friday at 7 p.m.

The Thundering Herd enters the match at 5-8-3 overall and 3-5-1 in Conference USA. WKU comes in at 4-8-4 overall and 2-5-2 in conference play.

"We are disappointed about where we are destined to finish for the season, but we are eager to represent Marshall one last time this year," Herd head coach Kevin Long said. "The players are motivated to get this last win and finish the season on a positive note. WKU is a good team and will also be very motivated on this, their Senior Night. We are hoping our play reflects an urgency and passion that the Herd fans have come to expect and deserve."

Marshall is coming off a 2-2 draw with Louisiana Tech on Sunday. Juniors Gabby Powers and Farah Abu-Tayeh each scored for the Herd. Junior keeper Megan Bonelli recorded eight saves and is now third all-time in program history with 195 career saves. Bonelli passed Kayla Johnson (1998-01) who was with the Herd during its first four years as a program.

Junior Marah Abu-Tayeh leads the team with eight goals this season and F. Abu-Tayeh is second with six. Both players have 17 points each.

The Lady Toppers are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to the UAB Blazers. The past three matches for WKU have all gone to overtime with draws against North Texas (Oct. 12) and Rice (Oct. 14) before the loss to UAB. WKU has scored 30 goals this season while giving up 28. Sarah Gorham leads with six and Ambere Barnett is next with five goals but also leads with eight assists and 18 points. Bailee Witt has played all but 25 minutes in the net this season for WKU and has 55 saves.
